对于广大中国留学生来说，如何规划在美学习和开展科研生涯是很多人非常关注的问题。提前规划自己的学习和科研计划，无论是对于今后的求职还是继续深造，都起着积极的作用。然而由于中美文化上的差异以及教育体制的差别，很多同学在美求学的过程中会遇到种种困难和疑惑。
伊州理工学院中国学生会（CSSA-IIT）将于11月19日举办"如何规划在美学习和开展科研生涯" 专题讲座，将邀请孙贤和、刘国奎博士两位芝加哥地区著名专家学者，为广大留学生传授他们的宝贵经验，并为同学们答疑解惑。两位学者届时将和大家分享他们在美国多年科研与工作的经验心得，并指导同学们如何规划在美学习和开展科研生涯。

孙贤和博士
主题：Career in Graduate School and Beyond
主讲人： Dr. Xian-He Sun （孙贤和博士） Illinois Institute of Technology
孙贤和博士1982年毕业于北京师范大学数学系， 1990年获美国密歇根州立大学计算机博士学位。他曾任美国能源部艾姆斯实验室博士后，美国国家航空与航天管理局兰利研究中心科学研究员，现任美国伊利诺理工大学计算机系教授，计算机系 系主任，美国阿冈国家实验室客座科学家。孙教授已发表了近二百篇专业著述，有4项专利，是二十多项美国国家自然基金项目的主持人。他的移动技术研究是美国国家自然基金第一批支持的九个中间件创新项目之一。他的应用认知存储技术研究是美国国家自然基金高性能计算大学研究计划重点支持的项目。他在上世纪90年代提出的内存制约加速比的概念，被业界称为孙-倪定律，是与Amdahl 定律和Gustafson 定律并列的可扩展计算的著名三大定律之一。孙教授是中国科协海智专家，八大特邀代表，中国欧美同学会建言献策委员会海外委员。他近年来多次受邀参加中国人才研讨会，所著文章散见于光明日报，科技导报，伦敦金融时报，世界华人导报，国际人才交流，等报刊、杂志。
刘国奎博士
主题：Essentials in research career development
主讲人：Dr. Guokui Liu （刘国奎博士）Argonne National Laboratory
刘国奎博士Dr. Guokui Liu is a physicist (condensed matter physics) at Argonne National Laboratory. He received undergraduate education at Wuhan University and M.S. and Ph.D in physics from Montana State University. He has been conducting basic and applied research at Argonne since 1988 and supervised a number of graduate students and postdocs from China. Supported by the US Department of Energy, his current research programs include: 1) Experimental and theoretical studies of electronic properties of f-elements (lanthanides and actinides) in solids and solutions. 2) Applied research on luminescent materials with fundamental approaches for improving quantum efficiency and spectral properties. He has published more 120 journal papers, contributed 6 book chapters and edited 2 books in physics, physical chemistry and materials sciences.
